Reviews patients condition, history, and physicians order; consults radiologist with any questions.Determines area and method of scanning; properly positions the patient.Routinely prepares the patient and the equipment for the upcoming procedure.Educates the patient and/or family regarding the procedure to be performed.Provides professional age-specific interaction with patients.Adheres to the standards outlined in the Monument Health Standards of Performance.All other duties as assigned.Additional RequirementsRequired:Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General StudiesGraduate - Radiology Program with additional ultrasound training or Sonography programCertification - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or ARRT with Advanced Ultrasound CertificationPreferred:Education - Associates: Related FieldExperience - 1+ years of Sonographer Experience; 1+ years of Staff Technologist ExperiencePhysical Requirements: Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
