Quality Specialist

Job Overview Location: Mansfield, OH Position: Quality Specialist Summary: Support daily quality assurance activities for stainless steel hot band production, make product disposition decisions, review process and inspection data, ensure compliance with customer order requirements, and assist LMF Chemistry Lab with routine maintenance, calibration, and supply management. Responsibilities Follow all plant and department safety procedures, including proper PPE usage. Adhere to established quality systems, procedures, and documentation requirements. Apply standard quality criteria to determine product acceptability and perform daily disposition of stainless steel hot bands using defined procedures, specifications, and quality standards. Review process holds and assist in determining appropriate disposition actions. Analyze automated surface inspection system maps to identify potential defects and raise concerns. Assist the Lab Supervisor with routine lab operations, daily tasks, and accurate reporting of results. Maintain lab equipment, organize supplies, monitor inventory, and assist with ordering lab supplies. Support audit readiness through accurate record‑keeping. Participate in lab on‑call rotation, including after‑hours support as needed. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate of Science degree or equivalent manufacturing experience in Metallurgy, Materials, and Engineering Technology. Basic computer skills and ability to learn data systems. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Basic analytical and problem‑solving skills. Communication and teamwork ability. Ability to follow procedures and work within defined guidelines. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field. Experience in manufacturing, metallurgy, or quality processes. Familiarity with inspection systems or production laboratory environments. Basic understanding of steel processing or quality concepts.
