Rigging Supervisor

Responsibility Overview Oversee crew(s) in assembly of rigging to lift and move equipment or material to construction project. Responsibilities Load, transport, unload, and assist in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps. Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook. Give direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled using hand signals, loudspeaker, two‑way radio or telephone. Set up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches. Tie various knots. Assemble and disassemble cranes. Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle. May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment onto or off ships, railroad, cars or trucks. Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment. Observe all safety rules. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or related area. Knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Ability to rely on instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform job functions. Independent decision making and ability to lead and direct a crew(s) safely and efficiently. Report to a manager. Job Requirements Coordinate the movements of hands and feet according to visual signals and directions. Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Observe flat drawing or diagrams and understand how they would look as a solid object. Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. Plan work and select proper tools. Compare and see differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects. Physical Requirements Strength: standing 70%, walking 30%, sitting 0%; lifting 50 lb; carrying 40 lb; pushing 40 ft‑lb; pulling 70 ft‑lb. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering (frequent and constant as described).
