Job Description

This position is dedicated to supporting affordable housing projects through comprehensive underwriting processes. The successful candidate will evaluate project financials, review funding structures, and ensure alignment with program requirements across various housing initiatives. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in documentation-heavy, compliance-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate project budgets, financial statements, and sources & uses of funds to assess project feasibility.

• Analyze financial data to ensure alignment with funding requirements, program guidelines, and budget constraints.

• Support the underwriting of affordable housing projects, including construction, rehabilitation, or financing structures.

• Validate supporting documentation and ensure completeness prior to funding approval.

• Identify discrepancies, risks, or gaps in financial data and communicate findings to stakeholders.

• Assist with tracking and reporting across multiple projects as needed.

• Work within Excel-based models and financial tracking tools to analyze and organize data.

• Collaborate with internal teams to support project timelines and deliverables.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field.

• 3-7+ years of experience in financial analysis, project finance, real estate/development finance, or affordable housing/public funding programs.

• Strong proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling, data analysis, and handling large datasets.

• Experience reviewing and analyzing project budgets and financial documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work through high volumes of financial data.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with affordable housing programs such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credits), HUD, CDBG, HOME, or similar funding programs.

• Background in real estate development, construction project finance, or program compliance.

• Experience working in multi-project or fast-paced environments.

• Familiarity with underwriting tools or financial systems (in addition to Excel).

Work Environment

This position is fully remote and requires working in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
