# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical Float – North Carolina Start Date: October 26, 2026 Location: Hickory, North Carolina Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: Alternating 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every third weekend. Jack/Jill schedule (4 shifts one week, 3 shifts the next). Highlights: - Float between all medical surgical departments (excluding CCU, psychiatry, and rehabilitation units)- Typical patient ratio of 6:1 across all shifts- 16 hours of orientation provided- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more- Work with adult and geriatric patient populations- One pre-approved time off period available during contract Requirements: - Active North Carolina or Compact RN license (must be active or pending with estimated date)- Current BLS certification (AHA) required- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience- Previous charge experience preferred- Community hospital, LTAC, and trauma center experience preferred- Proficiency with patient ratios of 6:1- Strong skills in medical surgical and telemetry nursing- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)- Must complete lab work within 72 hours of contract signing- Local candidates welcome Key Skills & Experience: Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, central line management, telemetry monitoring, wound care, tracheostomy care, oxygen administration, insulin protocols, isolation precautions, post-operative care, and use of rapid response/code teams. Familiarity with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, feeding tube care, PCA pumps, PICC lines, and surgical drains preferred.
