Adjunct Faculty, Music Theory / Composition (two positions available) The Department of Music at Hofstra University invites applications for two Adjunct Faculty positions for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. Responsibilities include: Teaching sections of first- and second-year Music Theory (MUS 069, 070A), Ear Training (MUS 061A, 062A, 063, 064), and Orchestration (MUS 166) for Music majors. Supporting student development in music and musicianship that prepares them for further educational and vocational activities. Supporting students in gaining skills in performing and analyzing music of the common‑practice period (1600–1900), with supplemental examples from folk and popular music. Teaching 6–8 semester hours. Delivering classes twice or three times per week for 55 minutes each. Qualifications: Completed a Master’s or PhD in Music Theory and/or Composition, or close to completion. Dedicated teacher and active researcher. Previous teaching experience required. Preferred: Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate classes.
