Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Part-Time Overnight

Location: Byram, NJ Employment Type: Part-Time, Overnight

Compensation

• Base Pay: $17.16 per hour
• Weekend Pay: $18.16 per hour

Position Summary

Advancing Opportunities, Inc., an affiliate of Apis Services, is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In this role, you will support adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in a residential setting, helping them lead safe, meaningful, and independent lives.

Essential Responsibilities

As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide direct care, supervision, mentoring, and support to individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with daily living activities, including cooking, housekeeping, and personal hygiene
• Supporting health and wellness goals, including personal care and healthy lifestyle practices
• Encouraging community participation through shopping, recreation, appointments, and outings
• Promoting social and emotional development, communication skills, and positive relationships
• Assisting with budgeting and money management skills
• Encouraging independence, self-confidence, dignity, and personal choice
• Maintaining a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment
• Following individualized support plans and agency policies

Qualifications

Required

• Must be at least 20 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to successfully complete:
  • State and federal criminal background checks
  • Drug screening
  • Pre-employment physical and PPD screening
• Willingness to complete all required orientation and pre-service training

Preferred

• Experience working with individuals with disabilities, caregiving, healthcare, or human services is helpful but not required
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable work ethic
