Purchasing Agent

Job Title

Responsible for reviewing purchase order requests and determining appropriate vendors and monitoring new vendors.

Responsible for requesting quotes.

Responsible for entering and placing Purchase orders, purchasing supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery.

Monitor the status of Purchase Orders and follow up on past due orders to help ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Deals with supplier when serious variations arise in delivery, quality, price or conditions of sale.

Responsible for filing all purchase orders for future reference.

Coordinating and tracking status of large projects separately from the standard orders.

Attend quarterly Supplier/Purchasing Review meetings.

Special projects as determined by the Plant Manager.

Requirements

Education: Associates degree or 2 years' experience in purchasing related field.

Skills: Excel, Word, Windows & basic computer knowledge desirable.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Basic mathematical skills required.

Experience: 2-4 years' experience in purchasing or buying related field.

Other: Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with vendors.
