Instructor, Paralegal – De Anza College Salary: $76,596.00 – $123,297.00 Annually Job Type: Full Time – Faculty Location: De Anza College, CA Job Overview The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is hiring an Instructor, Paralegal for De Anza College. The instructor will teach Paralegal Studies courses to a diverse student population, develop curriculum, and participate in departmental activities. Responsibilities Teach Paralegal Studies courses in two or more topic areas, including federal and state law reviews, litigation, corporate law, intellectual property, and estate planning. Deliver courses in both online and in‑person modality as required. Develop, implement, and evaluate curricula in the subject matter of expertise. Maintain scheduled office hours and attend department and division meetings. Engage in professional growth activities, committee service, and shared governance. Participate in campus extracurricular and program/departmental leadership opportunities. Minimum Qualifications Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, religious, cultural backgrounds, disabilities, and sexual orientations of community college students, faculty, and staff. Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher and at least two years of experience in legal assisting (paralegal). OR Associate degree and at least six years of experience in legal assisting (paralegal) or the equivalent. Preferred Qualifications College‑level instructional experience in law‑related fields such as Paralegal Studies or Political Science. Hands‑on experience working in a legal practice area. Five years or more of experience as a paralegal in a law firm, corporate, non‑profit, or government setting. Experience with teaching tools and learning management systems such as CANVAS, Moodle, Sakai, or Blackboard. Demonstrated teaching pedagogy adaptable to diverse learning styles and technologies. Experience with paralegal‑related program administration. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a diverse academic environment. Ability to create or develop curriculum and facilitate complex legal discussions. Working Conditions Indoor office environment. The Paralegal Program is fully online with synchronous sessions. Required physical abilities: Hearing, vision, hand dexterity, ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs.
