Middle/Upper School English Teacher

Wakefield School, located in The Plains, Virginia, is seeking a dynamic and innovative teacher who loves working with young people to serve as a member of its faculty beginning in August 2026 . This full-time position, which includes benefits, will include Middle School classes in Literature and Composition. The ideal candidate would have independent school teaching experience, a degree in English, and be committed to ongoing professional development. Serve as an engaged faculty member collaborating with others in setting the professional practices and curriculum for the school. Requirements Qualifications and Experience: A bachelor’s degree with a major concentration in a relevant field and/or education is required. The preferred candidate will have: Master’s degree and/or Commonwealth of Virginia certification; Relevant classroom experience, including Middle and/or Upper School English instruction; Technological proficiency in the classroom, including Google Educational apps, interactive whiteboards, and electronic grade books; Growth mindset and willingness to pursue ongoing professional development; Experience with coaching and/or club sponsorship; Strong communication and collaboration skills.
