Mental Health Worker

Experienced and aspiring mental health professionals are encouraged to consider a full-time Mental Health Worker position with Liberty Healthcare.

Work setting and client population

Liberty Healthcare operates a 10-bed acute psychiatric stabilization unit which serves adults who are justice-involved and experiencing acute mental illness.

The unit admits and treats patients who are under the conditions of an involuntary civil commitment and provides individualized assessment and treatment interventions aimed at achieving psychiatric stability as soon as clinically appropriate. Services are trauma-informed and rooted in the recovery model.

Location

The unit is located onsite at the Maguire Correctional Facility - a San Mateo County jail located at 300 Bradford Street in Redwood City, CA 94063.

Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Worker, your responsibilities will include:

• Establishing therapeutic relationships with patients

• Leading therapeutic recreation activities with individuals and groups

• Monitoring patient activity and behavior

• Promoting a positive therapeutic milieu

• Managing aggressive patient behaviors through appropriate intervention techniques

• Participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings

• Documenting therapeutic interventions, observations, and treatment in medical records

Training and experience

Pay and benefits

• $30.00 per hour

Work schedule

• You will primarily work Tuesdays through Saturdays 2:45 pm to 11:00 pm

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people who are experiencing mental illness

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field is preferred

• Experience working in a jail, prison, psychiatric hospital, mental health setting or human services program is preferred
