Summary

The General Manager, Rack Integration Business manages the strategy, operating performance, and change implementation for Celestica’s rack integration business across multiple teams and functions. The role oversees customer-dedicated organizations spanning operations, program management, production, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, quality, and supply chain.

This is a 100%-focused rack integration general management role. The GM is accountable for the end-to-end execution of integrated rack programs, including customer requirements, forecasting, NPI, prototype and first-article builds, manufacturing readiness, production ramp, mass production, testing, quality, fulfillment, and sustaining operations.

The GM contributes to the strategic direction of the rack integration business, including customer, technology, services, capacity, footprint, and pricing considerations. The role is accountable for global rack integration projects and P&L, resolving complex issues with long-term impact. The GM develops and implements new strategies, participates in strategic planning, and is responsible for planning, budgeting, cost management, and investment priorities.

The GM directs activities through department and functional managers, reviews performance and compensation, and builds a high-performing organization. This role requires regular interaction with executives, major customers, suppliers, and global Celestica leaders, including negotiation and escalation management. The GM may represent the organization at customer, supplier, and industry events.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Provides direct and indirect supervision to subordinate managers and employees performing highly specialized work across rack integration operations, program management, production, manufacturing engineering, test, quality, supply chain, logistics, and related functions. Provides latitude and discretion to leaders while maintaining accountability for business results.
• Leads rack integration strategy deployment, long-term planning, objective setting, policy formation, operating governance, and change management for the primary Richardson/CRT operation and associated global support teams.
• Develops new strategies, policies, practices, methods, programs, and techniques to establish a scalable rack integration operating model and support future customer and technology requirements.
• Implements new strategies across rack integration groups and may be leveraged for strategy deployment by other Celestica sites supporting rack and cabinet integration.
• Manages multiple customer-dedicated teams, including operational program management, production, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, quality, supply chain, warehouse, logistics, and supporting customer operations resources.
• Owns P&L and operating performance for rack integration operations, including revenue, MVA, cost of capital, cost management, productivity, working capital, and approved investment plans.
• Leads production, engineering support, test readiness, quality performance, and cost management, including bid, quotation, capacity, and investment inputs as required.
• Manages rack integration programs to achieve planned revenue, margin, output, quality, delivery, and cost objectives; meet customer commitments and schedules; and develop action plans to correct out-of-plan conditions.

Extended description

• Owns the operating rhythm for customer forecasting, demand planning, material readiness, capacity planning, production efficiency, labor planning, equipment readiness, and execution of the forecast strategy.
• Leads NPI and launch readiness from customer requirements through prototype and first-article builds, manufacturing readiness reviews, work instructions, SOPs, test scripts, training, production ramp, and transition to mass production.
• Ensures the organization can execute rack-level integration activities, including mechanical and optical assembly, cabling, system configuration, functional testing, rework, packaging, and shipment readiness.
• Ensures readiness of facilities, power, cooling, cleanroom, test, warehouse, material-flow, and logistics capabilities required for rack integration and customer deployment commitments.
• Leads quality and operational excellence for rack integration, including yield improvement, defect containment, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, test-turn reduction, cycle-time reduction, and Lean improvement.
• Partners with the Global Account Team to establish customer satisfaction objectives and execution plans that keep products, programs, and projects on schedule, highlight strong performance, and position perceived performance issues in the appropriate context.
• Manages customer operations activities including MRP volumes and commitments, new product development support, prototype builds, new product introduction, manufacturing readiness reviews, contract/DOU execution, rack-level quality and test performance, and Lean customer relationship management.
• Maintains effective relationships with customer operations, engineering, supply chain, quality, and executive stakeholders; leads customer operations reviews, escalation meetings, capacity discussions, and recovery plans.
• Reviews, analyzes, and reports program and business performance, taking timely action where performance is not acceptable.
• Conducts monthly operations and customer operations review meetings and quarterly customer performance reviews.
• Establishes and monitors a rack integration scorecard. Measurements may include rack output, on-time delivery, forecast accuracy, revenue, margin, MVA, cost of capital, inventory, material availability, staffing and development, expense, manufacturing efficiency, throughput, first-pass and test yield, rework, cycle time, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the rack integration business and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, on-time delivery, capacity, and profitability.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing, production processes, systems integration, rack or cabinet assembly, cabling, testing, quality, material flow, and the tools and equipment used in production.
• Demonstrated understanding of NPI, prototype and first-article builds, manufacturing readiness, production ramp, mass production, and sustaining operations.
• Working knowledge of supply chain planning, MRP, supplier management, material constraints, warehouse operations, logistics, and customer fulfillment.
• Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles and continuous-improvement methods.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and operate across global sites, functions, suppliers, and customer organizations.

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in manufacturing, engineering, test, warehouse, and customer-facing environments, with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, and other manufacturing conditions.
• Duties may require periodic sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Regular presence in manufacturing and test areas is expected. Occasional overnight travel to customers, suppliers, and other Celestica sites is required.
• All demands are carried out within local Health and Safety guidelines and applicable Celestica policies.

Typical Experience

• Twelve plus years of relevant experience
• Commercial and business expertise (P&L Management and Strategy Development).
• Experience in multiple operational disciplines.

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
