About the Position

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to titrate drips, read/interpret/document telemetry strips Description: Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. A driver's license is required for this position. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of the contract. RNs are required to pass an exam during orientation. This is an open book exam on skills learned. Candidates will receive all necessary resources to pass. A score of 90% is required to pass the exam, or the candidate will be terminated. Blocked scheduling will only be considered for weekends. Duos wanting the same schedule will not be accepted. If placed on call and called back in, the candidate has 30 minutes to arrive. The unit has 33 beds, with an average daily census of 16. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:2-3 for adults. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are available based on census and will assist as needed. Healthcare support techs are available three days per week. RNs will troubleshoot equipment such as nasal cannula to vent. Shifts are from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630. Self-scheduling is allowed for core staff, with travelers also included. Unable to guarantee blocked scheduling. RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. The monitor brand is GE, with oversight by tele techs. Floating typically occurs to PCU and occasionally MedSurg, with similar patient ratios. Holiday requirements include a minimum of two holidays that fall within the contract timeframe. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. RTO must be provided upfront, with a limitation of seven or fewer days per contract. Additional requests for time off will not be approved. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per assignment. Charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required. Trauma level of care is 2. Care setting is acute. The position falls under the nursing division.
