Football: Head Coach

Job Description This role is for the Football Head Coach at Everett High School, Everett, Massachusetts. Starting Date: Immediately Mission Statement Everett Athletics strives to educate and inspire student athletes to be the best version of themselves! Responsibilities The Head Coach is directly responsible to the Principal and the Director of Athletics and shall perform the following duties: Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved. Maintain accurate records of team lists, injury reports, scores of games, statistics, incident reports, and physical examinations. Be available during the entire school year to provide guidance and counseling to team members on scholastic achievement, college entrance, and citizenship. Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate. Determine the athlete’s academic eligibility. Ensure compliance with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the EHS Student Handbook. Oversee safety conditions of the facility when students are present. Present at each practice session and all contests, supervising weight room, locker room, and shower areas before and after each activity. Enforce discipline and encourage sportsmanship in accordance with Principal and Athletic Department standards. Attend all Athletic Department and school meetings related to the sport, including MIAA, GBL, Coaches Associations and Athletic Awards meetings, staying informed of rule changes. Develop a written practice plan including adequate warm‑up and cool‑down procedures. Provide personal support to the entire EHS staff, including principals, assistant principals and teachers. Establish communication channels with adults to identify resources for enhancing EHS athletics. Collaborate with community members involved in youth sports to encourage continued participation at the high school level. Organize and instruct clinics for youth programs and coaches of the individual sport, and supervise squad members at home and away contests. Assist in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment; account for equipment not returned by team members. Organize and post a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches. Perform any additional duties as directed by the principal or athletic director that are in the best interest of the sport, pupils, and school. Qualifications Previous football coaching experience is desirable. Experience in high school, college, or both is desirable. Knowledge of football and its rules, and ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport. Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues, and other citizens. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred. CPR certification. Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and/or other MIAA requirements preferred. Salary & Benefits Stipend position – Salary based on contract (FY27). Position Type: Stipend. Salary: up to $16,474.10 stipend.
