Athletics Operations Intern

Job Title Athletics Operations Intern Location Lexington, KY Job Summary The University of Kentucky Athletics Department is seeking candidates for a paid intern position in the Operations (Facilities & Event Management) unit. The intern will assist full‑time staff members in the coordination and operation of 23 varsity sports and other special events. This is a two‑year commitment, renewable after the first year at the discretion of the athletics department. Responsibilities Assist in day‑to‑day operations, setup/strike of assigned athletic sports/events. Staff and supervise part‑time event staff for each assigned event. Create and maintain visiting team guides and operations manuals for regular season and post‑season events. Schedule, set up and strike assigned facility spaces (physical labor & lifting required at times). Maintain inventory, supplies, materials, and equipment. Assist with preventative maintenance, cleanliness and ensuring assigned facilities are 24/7 recruiter ready. Support hosting NCAA Championships and other special events. Perform general office duties. Other duties as assigned. Requirements / Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Sports Management or a related field. Experience in athletic event/facility operations (prior experience preferred). Familiar with NCAA procedures and protocols. Passionate, dedicated, hard‑working, organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superior integrity, ownership, accountability, and responsibility. Willing to work long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays; mandatory to work all home football games. Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs. Physical labor and lifting required at times. Shift: Days, evenings, and weekends. Position type: Student; Full-time. Preferred Education / Experience Written documentation of admission to the UK Graduate School in Sports Leadership or other departmental approved graduate programs.
