Fitter/Tailor

Fitter/Tailor: NYC, Long Island, NY, Hoboken, NJ & Greenwich, CT We are looking for a dynamic professional Fitter/Tailor, distinguished by their charisma, technical prowess, and professional integrity. This role will include fittings, sewing on the machine, building client relationships and supporting the tailor shop manager. This is a full‑time role in New York City, Brooklyn, Long Island, Hoboken, NJ and Greenwich, CT with salary, full benefits, and opportunities for future growth. Responsibilities Maintain a professional, warm, welcoming studio environment. Conduct fittings according to the Alteration Specialists Standard. Build relationships with clients, influencers, brands and stylists. Make every client feel welcome and confident in the skills of you and your team. Demonstrate meeting personal production targets. Cultivate proficiency with men’s, women’s, and bridal alterations as well as difficult fabrics. Constantly evaluate processes that are not efficient and propose solutions to optimize. Inform front desk of all re‑alterations. Keep track of and scan production during the day and communicate with front desk to confirm accuracy. Experience 7–10 years of alteration tailoring experience required. 2–3 years of general fitting experience required. 1 year of fitting both men’s and women’s garments required. Proficiency in English required. This is a mid‑career role. Compensation Range is from $18/hour – $35/hour. Standard/Basic Tailors: $18–$24/hour. Intermediate: $25–$30/hour. Advanced: $30–$35/hour. This is based on skill level and classification of tailoring work.
