We are seeking an experienced BAU Support Manager / Senior SQL Developer to lead the support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of critical data integration and reporting solutions.
The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on SQL Server 2019 and SSIS 2019 development skills with the ability to manage business-as-usual support activity, diagnose complex issues, and work effectively across distributed environments where Production is owned and supported by a separate team outside the development lab.
Key Responsibilities BAU Support & Incident Management- Lead and coordinate BAU support activities across data integration and reporting platforms.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex incidents across SQL Server, SSIS, source data, transformation logic, and downstream outputs.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement robust, permanent fixes rather than short-term workarounds.
- Manage support queues, defects, incidents, and enhancement requests through JIRA.
- Maintain clear support documentation, technical notes, runbooks, and knowledge articles in Confluence.
- Work closely with separate Production support teams to diagnose issues, coordinate releases, and restore service.
- Communicate issue status, impact, resolution options, and progress clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL Server 2019 database components.
- Create, optimise, and support complex T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, views, functions, and SQL Agent jobs.
- Investigate data quality, reconciliation, performance, locking, failure, and integrity issues.
- Tune queries and stored procedures for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Support controlled deployments and fixes across DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
- Design, build, enhance, and troubleshoot SSIS 2019 packages and ETL workflows.
- Support systems that ingest data from CSV files, Excel files, SQL Server databases, and other structured sources.
- Develop and maintain package scripting, expressions, transformations, connection managers, and error handling.
- Diagnose package failures, data load errors, scheduling issues, performance bottlenecks, and environment-specific failures.
- Improve existing ETL processes through automation, validation, monitoring, and operational hardening.
- Operate effectively across distributed DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
- Work within a support model where Production is owned and supported by a separate team outside the lab.
- Ensure defects, fixes, releases, and operational processes are documented and traceable.
- Use Confluence to maintain clear technical documentation, support procedures, known issues, and operational runbooks.
- Use own initiative to identify improvement opportunities, design practical solutions, and reduce recurring BAU issues.

- Strong problem ownership and accountability from initial diagnosis through to resolution.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and make sensible technical decisions with limited supervision.
- Incident, Problem, and Change Management experience.
- Experience coordinating releases and controlled deployments across multiple environments.
- Calm, structured, and pragmatic approach to BAU incidents and production-impacting issues.
- Clear communicator who can explain complex technical problems in simple business language.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and disciplined in documentation, follow-up, and auditability.
- Collaborative approach when working with developers, testers, business users, and Production support teams.
- Banking, financial services, Markets, Trade Control, or regulated enterprise experience.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior developers, analysts, or support colleagues.
- Experience improving operational processes through automation, monitoring, or better documentation.
The ideal candidate is a senior SQL Server and SSIS professional who enjoys combining hands-on technical development with BAU ownership, incident management, documentation, and operational improvement. They will be confident in investigating complex issues, coordinating with separate Production support teams, communicating clearly, and implementing sustainable fixes that improve reliability and reduce recurring support demand.
