Manual MachinistThe Manual Machinist sets up and operates manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools and equipment.Responsibilities and DutiesThe Manual Machinist performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible mannerRead and interpret blueprintsUse gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirementsUse precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, manual milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, band saw, and a variety of cutting tools and equipmentFabricate and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metalProperly and safely select, align, secure and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machinesRecognize, deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures and toolingPerform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipmentAbility to track parts and jobs in company's systemMaintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededQualifications and SkillsEducation Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience Requirements:2-3 years of machining experienceBasic computer skillsKnowledge, skills and abilities:Knowledge of and experience with machine and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenanceDesign techniques, tools and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans and drawingsMetals and the quality and machinability and uses of metals, alloys and other materialsMechanically inclined, and understand manufacturing techniquesAbility to prioritize, schedule and review workEffectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipmentInterpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to othersMaintain routine recordsAbility to move or transfer products with a hoist or overhead craneAttention to detailAbility to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptionsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently without daily supervisionWorking ConditionsThe work environment is in a manufacturing facility where noise level is usually moderateWork is performed while standing, sitting and/or walkingRequires the use of hands for simple handling, grasping and fine manipulationsRequires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 poundsRequires standing for long periods of timeRequires making repetitive motions while operating equipmentRequires activities involving being around moving machineryWork a standard work week but may be required to work some overtimeBenefitsFull benefit package including medical, dental, vision, employee stock ownership plan, short term and long term disability and life insurance.Job Type: Full-timeExperience:Manual Machining: 2 years (Preferred)Education:High school or equivalent (Required)
