Cantonese-Speaking Caregiver

About the Role

Care Indeed is seeking compassionate, dependable Cantonese-speaking caregivers to support older adults in San Francisco through our anticipated partnership with On Lok PACE.

This opportunity is part of a planned 60-day pilot serving older adults in San Francisco and Alameda. Caregivers will provide non-medical, in-home care to help participants maintain their independence, dignity, comfort and quality of life.

You will visit multiple participants throughout your assigned service area, providing personalized care based on each participant's approved care plan. This role is ideal for caregivers who enjoy working independently, communicating with Cantonese-speaking seniors and helping older adults remain safe and comfortable at home.

Responsibilities

Personal Care and Daily Living

• Assist participants with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting and incontinence care.

• Support safe mobility, walking, positioning, transfers and approved exercises.

• Assist with feeding, serving meals and preparing simple dishes or warming prepared meals.

• Provide basic oral hygiene support, such as rinsing dentures, and assist with hearing aids, glasses and other personal devices.

• Provide approved skin care, such as applying over-the-counter products to intact skin, as directed by the care plan.

• Provide medication reminders. Medication administration is not part of this role.

• Assist with routine safety checks and ordering necessary care supplies when assigned.

Companionship and Household Support

• Provide companionship, emotional reassurance and respectful social interaction.

• Remind participants of instructions provided by their healthcare team and support prescribed dietary restrictions.

• Assist with light housekeeping, including dishes, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, making beds and maintaining clean living areas.

• Complete assigned laundry tasks and help keep participant mobility equipment clean.

• Support approved activities and exercise programs as directed by the care plan.

Scheduling and Communication

• Travel between multiple participant homes within your assigned service area.

• Follow the schedule coordinated by Care Indeed and On Lok's homecare team.

• Document visits and completed care tasks using required timekeeping and documentation systems.

• Report participant concerns, changes in condition, falls, injuries, care refusals and other incidents promptly through established reporting procedures.

• Respect participant privacy, dignity, preferences and rights at all times.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Cantonese and able to communicate effectively with Cantonese-speaking older adults.

• Previous caregiving or home care experience preferred.

• Experience providing personal care and assisting older adults with activities of daily living is an asset.

• Compassionate, patient, reliable and professional.

• Comfortable traveling between multiple participant homes during scheduled shifts.

• Able to use a smartphone for timekeeping, scheduling and care documentation.

• Willing to complete required onboarding, background screening, health clearance and program training.

Pay, Schedule and Travel

• Starting pay of $25 per hour.

• Six hours per day guaranteed under the program's current arrangement, subject to confirmation of individual caregiver eligibility for the guarantee.

• Paid travel time between scheduled participant visits.

• Eligible mileage reimbursement or approved rideshare expenses for travel between participant homes, according to agency policy.

• Opportunity to support older adults through Care Indeed's anticipated partnership with On Lok PACE.

This position requires reliable attendance, flexibility and the ability to travel between participant homes. Caregivers provide only services authorized in the participant's care plan.

Please note that this role does not include overnight care, heavy housekeeping, handling participant finances, medication administration or transporting participants in a caregiver's personal vehicle. Grocery shopping and outside errands are also excluded from the approved scope of services.
