RN - Transplant

This is a travel position for an RN in the Transplant unit at the Nebraska Medical Center. The shift is from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with four shifts per week for a total of 48 scheduled hours. The contract starts on June 8, 2026, and ends on September 7, 2026, lasting 13 weeks.

The job description includes a 36 or 48-hour option and a 13 or 26-week contract option. Travelers are first to float and must be prepared to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the hospital. The RTO blackout dates due to the College World Series are from June 11 to June 22, 2026.

The Medical Surgical/Solid Organ Transplant Unit (SOTU) is a 36-bed unit providing medical surgical/telemetry and progressive care to adult pre and post liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal transplant patients, and intestinal rehabilitation patients. Adolescent patients starting at the age of 15 are on the unit but are cared for by core staff only. Ratios are 1:5 days/1:6 nights. Depending on staffing, night ratios can be 1:7 (this is rare, but the facility wants travelers to be aware).

BLS and ACLS are required. NIH and CPI are preferred. Two years of prior experience are required, with a preference for experience in a large, urban hospital. Drips are required on all floors, and EPIC charting experience is necessary. First-timers are not accepted unless they have two years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center. The traveler will float within scope to meet facility needs, potentially floating to the Bellevue campus. Units may include, but are not limited to, 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU.

In addition to CNAs, care teams include care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics. LPNs are assigned on some, but not all, floors. The facility is 100% nicotine free. Weekends include four weekend shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period. Days: Saturday and Sunday. Nights: Friday night and Saturday night. RTO restrictions allow up to two weeks of RTO, which must be submitted with the application. Holiday requirement mandates that travelers work 2/3 major holidays.

Locals are not accepted; the candidate must be more than 100 miles from the facility. Pending license is accepted, but if the license is not in hand at the time of submission, the traveler will be booked six weeks out. Scrubs are mandatory; RNs wear Steele gray scrubs with the Nebraska Medicine logo printed on the back. Information on how to obtain Nebraska Medicine branded scrubs will be shared once the traveler is confirmed. Facility also sells gray T-shirts in their company store that can be worn in lieu of branded scrubs. OR scrubs are provided by the facility.
