Tri-State Ambulance - Paramedic 911 - Sign on Bonus $10,000 The position offers advanced life support and basic life support emergency medical care, patient assessment and care, transport services, and other related duties. Additionally, the candidate must fulfill all responsibilities and meet the qualifications of an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic/Driver. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following skills, knowledge, or abilities are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Meet the qualifications of an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic/Driver. Have no criminal record resulting in a verdict other than non‑guilty in any criminal proceeding. Factors such as recency, nature of act, and other considerations will be weighed by Administration. Complete, with a satisfactory rating, at least 30 hours of ride‑along time with an ALS‑certified Field Training Officer after orientation and training. May not be concurrently employed by any other ambulance service or by any entity that could pose a conflict. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED preferred, plus ALS certification as indicated above. LANGUAGE SKILLS Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. REASONING ABILITY Resolve practical problems in varied situations with limited standardization. Interpret instructions given in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Maintain a valid, current State and/or license as Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic. Maintain BCLand ACLS certifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide advanced life support treatment of patients. Operate ambulances and other company vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently. Provide basic life support treatment and transportation of sick and injured persons. Administer emergency medical treatment within one’s skills, training, and certification. Comply with all applicable state, local, and federal regulations and laws pertaining to protocols, standards of care, muscle vehicle operations, and patient rights. Observe patients, record significant conditions and treatments rendered. Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess patient condition. Prepare inventories and stock supplies; inspect equipment for proper operation. Clean and disinfect the interior and exterior of ambulances and maintain cleanliness of company vehicles, equipment, office, lounge, and bathrooms. Safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients in and out of ambulances, facilities, residences, and other locations. Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical personnel, and the public in verbal and written form. Maintain reliable transportation and report to work punctually for all scheduled shifts, wearing proper uniform. Maintain a clean, complete uniform, personal hygiene, and maintain a professional, polite demeanor at all times. Be available, willing, and able to work up to 60 minutes before a shift and may be dispatched to an additional transport until scheduled shift ends. Specific requirements are in the Procedure Manual. Complete and maintain accurate records for transport, equipment inspections, supply usage, incidents, and other required documentation. Promote the company, perform public relations when assigned, standby at special events, deliver medical equipment and supplies, and perform other duties as assigned. Attend company meetings and educational sessions when possible. Inspect and promptly report damage, deficiencies, safety issues, or other problems with ambulances, vehicles, equipment, and supplies. Reports are made immediately to Administration. Report immediately to Administration in writing any change in driving record status, certification status, or other circumstances affecting the ability to perform duties or qualify for the position. Report any change in health or physical status that could affect duty performance or qualification. Report any change in information provided to the company on employment or other records. Report any violation of personnel policies or procedures immediately to Administration. Comply with all provisions of the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and all other company rules and directives from supervisors. Maintain strict confidentiality of all company information, trade secrets, pricing, contract terms, competitive information, strategic data, patient data, forms, manuals, charts, employee data, and other sensitive information. This duty continues beyond employment. Report to Operations Management (including Shift Supervisors and Field Supervisors). Perform other duties as assigned by Administration. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made. Duties require standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle or feel objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and speaking or hearing. Occasionally a sense of smell is used. Frequent lifting, transferring, maneuvering, loading, or moving clients and/or equipment weighing up to 250 pounds is expected. These maneuvers often involve steps, narrow passages, and obstacles, performed efficiently while ensuring safety of self, client, partner, and others. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment includes frequent exposure to outside weather conditions and occasional proximity to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels are usually moderate.
