Registered Nurse

This position involves working in a very high acuity unit. Contractors will encounter a heavy load of strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis cases. Some trauma cases may also be seen, although this is not a trauma-designated unit. Security is onsite 24/7. The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. The role involves providing routine and complex care while developing strategies to manage clinical contingencies. Responsibilities include making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers as needed. The nurse will meet expectations of the applicable competencies, including Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, the nurse will utilize the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addressing increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families is essential. Using appropriate protocols, medications and treatments will be administered while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medication given, and care provided is required. Assessment of learning needs and providing education to patients, family members, and caregivers is a necessary part of the role. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend a New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, and initial onboarding requirements will be validated through competency validation. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory. One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred. The work schedule is from 7 PM to 7 AM. This position is categorized as full-time.
