Description The Birthplace/Labor & Deliver unit at St. Joseph’s Health includes eight Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, nine Triage/Recovery beds, and three Recovery/Postpartum rooms, plus two surgical delivery rooms—total 20 beds for family‑centered care of low and high‑risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum mothers and newborns. The unit is accredited by Leapfrog for safety and recognized in Newsweek’s 2021 list of Best Maternity Hospitals. Employment Type Part time Shift Varying shifts are available. What You Will Do Provide family‑centered therapeutic nursing interventions, hands‑on skills, family/caregiver education, goal setting, critical thinking, and care planning. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including OB providers, certified nurse midwives, anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, lactation consultants, OB technicians, social workers, and spiritual care. Participate in precepting and mentoring students and new staff. Responsibilities Ensure quality nursing care for all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act and national standards. Utilize the nursing process to plan, direct, supervise, and provide direct care to patients and families. Education, Training, Experience, Certification, and Licensure Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current LPN licensure in New York or eligibility for licensure. One year of clinical experience with medication administration preferred. Participation in orientation, continuing education, and maintenance of skills related to specific areas of expertise. Current BLS and CPR certifications. Physical Demands Medium work: must lift 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds; ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, and reach. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education and may vary within the stated range based on location.
