We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join an organization in Bridgewater, New Jersey. This contract opportunity is well suited for an accounting specialist who can balance day-to-day financial responsibilities with tax-related work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will support accurate financial reporting, maintain strong general ledger practices, and contribute to corporate and sales tax compliance.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record journal entries to support timely and accurate monthly accounting activities.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial records remain complete and reliable.

• Assist with the preparation and review of corporate tax filings and related supporting documentation.

• Manage sales tax processes, including calculating liabilities, maintaining records, and helping ensure filings are submitted correctly.

• Support month-end and year-end close by organizing financial data and verifying account balances.

• Collaborate with internal teams to gather accounting information and resolve questions affecting financial reporting.

• Maintain documentation for accounting transactions and tax-related activities in accordance with company standards.

• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Knowledge of corporate tax principles and preparation support for corporate tax returns.
• Hands-on experience with sales tax accounting and compliance activities.
• Strong understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Ability to analyze financial information with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for reporting and reconciliations.
