Job Title: General Production Worker / Mold Setter

Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and changing molds in injection molding machines between production runs, operating equipment safely, and maintaining high quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will perform machine setups, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting while supporting continuous improvement, environmental, health, and safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Change over molds in injection molding machines between production runs according to established procedures.

• Train and assist associates in performing preventive maintenance assignments on production equipment.

• Set up machines correctly, operate machinery in a safe manner, and verify that all equipment safety features are in place and functioning properly.

• Record scrap accurately, dispose of it daily, and ensure all rework is completed by the end of each shift.

• Perform lock-out and tag-out (LOTO) procedures to clear equipment faults and restore machine energy in line with established safety protocols.

• Inform the Team Leader or Production Manager promptly of any quality or safety issues observed during production.

• Complete all required paperwork and data entry accurately and in a timely manner.

• Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.

• Assist in monitoring and maintaining all Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) goals, including safety, scrap, customer defects, in-process defects, and related performance measures.

• Support and participate in continuous improvement projects related to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and overall production efficiency.

• Perform maintenance on equipment within assigned work areas and make necessary machine adjustments to produce quality parts.

• Operate heavy equipment such as cranes and forklifts safely and in accordance with plant procedures.

• Use hand tools and mechanical skills to support mold changes, machine operation, and basic troubleshooting.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production area.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred; candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn can start as Level I.

• Ability to stand for the duration of the shift, excluding scheduled breaks.

• Capability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds or more.

• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Outlook.

• Ability to operate and monitor production machinery safely and efficiently.

• Mechanical aptitude for working with molds, machines, and hand tools.

• Ability to follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols.

• Attention to detail for accurate scrap recording, data entry, and part inspection.

• Basic troubleshooting skills for addressing machine and production issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in mold setting, mold technician work, injection molding, or blow molding.

• Previous experience in general labor or machine operation within a manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with production control processes and quality standards.

• Comfort using mechanical tools and equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and hand tools.

• Interest in learning and progressing through skill levels (Level I, Level II, Level III) based on performance and mold test results.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on injection molding production. You will work on one of three shifts: 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., or 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The environment involves standing for most of the shift, operating and monitoring machinery, performing mold changes, and working around heavy equipment such as cranes and forklifts. You will handle materials and parts that may require lifting up to 50 pounds or more. The facility uses standard manufacturing technologies, including injection molding machines, hand tools, and computer systems for data entry and production tracking. Attendance bonuses and shift differentials are available for eligible shifts, and all new hires complete a mold test to determine their starting level, with clear opportunities for progression through Level I, Level II, and Level III over time.

The pay range for this position is $36360.00 - $45760.00/yr.
