YWCA Oklahoma City offers victims of domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), and stalking immediate crisis response services. YWCA OKC services are provided at our primary location, through staff embedded at the Palomar Family Justice Center and local hospitals throughout the metro Oklahoma City area.

We are currently hiring for a Child Advocate to provide high-quality, child-centered advocacy and support services to children and youth in residential programs. This position ensures services are age-appropriate, trauma-informed, safe, nurturing, and responsive to the unique needs of children, youth, and families. The Child Advocate also promotes healthy development and well-being by supporting parents through education, guidance, and resources that strengthen the parent-child relationship.

Some job responsibilities :

• Orient families to available child advocacy and family services, including one-on-one care, group activities, and supportive programming.
• Provide one-on-one and small group care and supervision to children and youth in residential settings, ensuring services are developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and responsive.
• Collaborate to implement and support coordinated services for children, youth, and families.
• Support the development and implementation of individualized care plans for children based on their needs and interests.
• Provide parenting support and education that promotes healthy parent-child relationships, including non-violent approaches to discipline, child development, children’s behavioral and mental health, and transitions into and out of residential settings.
• Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate recreational and educational activities, including opportunities for parent-child engagement, and participate in the facilitation of children’s groups, youth groups, and parenting support groups.
• Utilize a trauma-informed approach in interactions with children, youth, and families and provide culturally responsive and language-accessible services in collaboration with team members.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of services in accordance with agency policies, including internal communication and shelter documentation.

Qualifications

Associates degree and experience working with children and youth is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others and following oral/written instructions is required. Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills are required. Computer skills required.

This is a non-exempt employee position. Hours for this position may be irregular and include some evening and weekend hours. You must possess the physical ability to lift up to thirty pounds is necessary. Benefits include health insurance, paid vacation and retirement.
