Calibration Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Engine Calibration Engineer for one of our automotive industry clients. This individual will be responsible for engine controls calibration and powertrain performance development for global vehicle programs. The ideal candidate will have experience with engine calibration, emissions compliance, drivability, and powertrain optimization.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Calibrate engine control systems for global vehicle markets.

Complete engine calibration activities in accordance with established procedures to achieve emissions, fuel economy, power, drivability, and OBD targets.

Develop and manage calibration plans, timelines, and resource schedules to support project milestones and development deadlines.

Perform test preparation, data collection, data analysis, and technical report generation.

Collaborate closely with calibration technicians and cross-functional engineering teams.

Conduct vehicle testing and validation in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and high-altitude locations.

Complete required technical and driving-related training necessary to support testing activities.

Execute software logic verification and calibration confirmation activities.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

1+ years of engine calibration experience.

Strong understanding of internal combustion engine principles and applications.

Excellent driving record.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Experience troubleshooting technical issues and developing effective engineering solutions. Experience with emissions, bench, drivability, or OBD calibration for conventional and/or hybrid powertrains.

Experience calibrating engine control systems for international markets (Europe, Japan, China, etc.).

Experience with Model-Based Design and calibration development processes.

Programming experience with Python, VBA, or similar languages.

Experience utilizing project management tools.

Proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, C, and/or C++.

Experience working in diverse and global engineering environments.

Knowledge of U.S. and international emissions and OBD regulations.
