About the Role:

The Toddler Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily care and development of toddlers within a childcare or early education setting. This position focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social growth of young children. The Toddler Assistant works closely with lead teachers to implement age-appropriate activities and routines that encourage exploration and learning. Additionally, the role involves observing and responding to the individual needs of each child, ensuring their well-being and comfort throughout the day. Ultimately, the Toddler Assistant contributes to laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and healthy development during these formative years.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with young children, preferably toddlers, in a childcare or educational setting.
• Basic knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate care practices.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet state childcare licensing requirements.
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in CPR and First Aid for infants and young children.
• Formal training or coursework in early childhood education or child development.
• Experience with behavior management techniques suitable for toddlers.
• Bilingual abilities to support diverse family backgrounds.
• Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool.

Responsibilities:

• Assist lead teachers in supervising and engaging toddlers during daily activities, including playtime, meals, naps, and learning sessions.
• Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate educational and recreational activities that foster cognitive, motor, and social skills.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment by following health and safety guidelines and promptly addressing any hazards.
• Observe and document children’s behavior, progress, and any concerns, communicating effectively with the teaching team and parents as needed.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to toddlers, helping them navigate transitions and encouraging positive interactions with peers.

The Toddler Assistant utilizes strong interpersonal and observational skills daily to understand and respond to the unique needs of each child. Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with lead teachers, parents, and other staff to ensure consistent care and developmental support.
