Job Summary

A well-established litigation practice is seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join its Altamonte Springs, FL office. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a skilled litigation paralegal with a strong background in insurance defense, medical malpractice, medical negligence, or complex civil litigation.

Key Responsibilities

- Draft correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
- Review and analyze medical records, prepare detailed medical chronologies, and identify key case facts.
- Conduct state and federal court e-filing and ensure compliance with Florida litigation procedures.
- Coordinate with clients, attorneys, experts, witnesses, and other parties throughout the litigation process.
- Assist with preparation for witness interviews, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial.
- Maintain organized case files, litigation calendars, deadlines, and accurate billable time records.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $73,000 to $78,000 per year, based on experience.
- Additional compensation: Bi-yearly paralegal bonus opportunities.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
- Work arrangement: Primarily in office with remote flexibility as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage litigation case support for medical malpractice, insurance defense, and complex civil litigation matters.
- Prepare pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, medical chronologies, and trial preparation materials.
- Coordinate expert witnesses, case deadlines, e-filing, and attorney support throughout all stages of litigation.
- Accurately track and report billable time in accordance with client guidelines.
- 3 or more years of litigation paralegal experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Experience with discovery, pleadings, subpoenas, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Strong medical record review and medical chronology preparation skills.
- Experience with Florida state and federal court e-filing.
- Ability to maintain a minimum of 150 billable hours per month.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and deadline management abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Insurance defense litigation experience.
- Medical malpractice or medical negligence litigation experience.
- Nurse Paralegal experience.
- Familiarity with Florida medical malpractice statutes and procedures.
- Plaintiff litigation experience in complex civil, medical malpractice, or related litigation matters.
