Histotechnician

Labcorp seeks a histotechnician for its Austin, Texas laboratory to process tissue specimens and prepare microscopic slides. The role involves embedding, sectioning, staining, and quality control of histopathological samples, working Saturday shift hours.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination
• Section embedded tissue using microtome and mount sections on microscope slides
• Perform immunohistochemical tests and routine staining procedures
• Operate, maintain, and document quality control for manual and automated instruments
• Record test results accurately and report problems affecting test performance

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Chemical, Biological Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science
• One or more years of histotechnician experience
• Ability to pass standardized color blindness test
• Histology and/or ASCP certifications preferred
• Proficiency with routine histology procedures and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
