2026-27 Security and Safety Specialist – Paradise Valley HS Paradise Valley USD 69 – Paradise Valley High School, Phoenix, Arizona. Position: 8‑hour, 9‑month role from August 3, 2026 to May 27, 2027. Grade 14, $15.94 per hour. Non‑interim, FTE 1.0. Starting Date: August 3, 2026. Purpose Statement The main purpose of the Security and Safety Specialist is to support the instructional process by ensuring the safety and welfare of students, staff, and visitors on campus and aligning with district policy and procedures. Essential Functions Communicate safety and security policies to students, staff, and visitors to maintain a positive campus climate. Monitor student behavior before, during, and after school, for assigned duties and events, and assist students in complying with guidelines to maintain a safe environment. Patrol school facilities, grounds, roads, buildings, parking lots, and adjacent areas to provide visibility, safety, and a positive campus environment. Assist with the implementation of the emergency response plan during emergencies such as lockdown, evacuation, or shelter‑in‑place. Prepare written materials documenting student behavior activities and conveying information as needed. Provide traffic and parking control to maintain efficient traffic flow. Refer incidents (personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc.) to appropriate site personnel for follow‑up per guidelines. Respond to accidents, injuries, vandalism, alarms, and other situations to resolve immediate safety or security concerns. Participate in unit meetings, training, and workshops to convey or gather required information. Support campus culture by encouraging students to reflect on their actions and seek amends. Other Functions Perform related duties as assigned to ensure effective unit operation and campus social‑emotional well‑being. Assist or be assigned to other district campuses as needed. Participate in district/local in‑service training and behavioral safety training. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Adhere to safety practices and use standard office equipment and software. Maintain accurate records and prepare routine documents. Perform basic math and understand written and oral instructions. Apply knowledge of health standards, hazards, safety practices, and procedures. Schedule activities, collate data, and operate job‑related equipment. Communicate with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, and work as part of a team. Adapt to changing work priorities and set priorities amid frequent redirection of duties. Use data to identify issues and develop action plans. Responsibilities Work under direct supervision using standardized procedures, provide information or advice to others, and utilize resources from other units as required. Work Environment Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine‑finger dexterity. Typical schedule: 35% sitting, 50% walking, 15% standing. Work may involve exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury or illness. Experience Job‑related experience is desired. Education High school diploma or equivalent.
