Manufacturing EngineerThe Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for supporting production of high end analytical instrumentation at our New Castle, Delaware, facility. This position is part of a dynamic cross-functional engineering team that investigates defects and drives continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes.ResponsibilitiesThe manufacturing engineering activities may involve:Theoretical and experimental investigation for failure analysis and qualification of alternate hardwareTechnical direction and coordination in a manufacturing environmentConception and planning of resources to support hardware requirementsThe analysis, evaluation, and solution of technical problems encountered in the application of manufacturing methods, facilities, processes, materials and tooling incident to the fabrication and assembly of high-technology instrumentsResponsible for maintaining the design of released products with the goal of continuously improving quality, customer satisfaction, efficiency of production and cost-effectivenessFollows established policies and procedures, performs professional manufacturing engineering assignments requiring full use and application of standard manufacturing principles, theories, concepts and techniquesAnalyzes engineering drawings and support documentation for application to project requirements and producibilityProvides imaginative, detailed, and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving conventional utilization of manufacturing engineering techniquesInvestigates problems that arise in-house and at suppliers during the fabrication, assembly, and test of instruments and develops, evaluates, and implements solutionsAnalyzes problem data for trends to identify and prioritize long-term solutionsQualificationsMinimum of B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field3 years or more experience in a related role is preferredComprehensive knowledge and demonstrated application of engineering principles, theories, and procedures used for the development and manufacture of electro-mechanical systemsStrong communication skills, including excellent writing and presentation skillHands-on problem solver with a passion for continuous improvement of production processesSolid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principlesProficiency with 2D/3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)Company DescriptionWaters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) is a global leader in life sciences and diagnostics, dedicated to accelerating the benefits of pioneering science through analytical technologies, informatics, and service.
