Part-Time Property & Facilities Coordinator

Purpose

Support the mission of First Presbyterian Church (FPC) by ensuring the safety, functionality, and readiness of church buildings and grounds for worship, ministry, and community use.

Position Details

• Status: Part-time, non-exempt
• Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, including some weekends and special events
• Salary: $25-35 per hour, depending on experience.
• Reports to: Director of Operations and Special Projects; accountable to the Session through the Property Committee
• Policies: Subject to the FPC Employee Handbook and all church policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities, property, or general maintenance work
• Working knowledge of basic building systems (HVAC, lighting, irrigation, etc.)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently and respond to facility needs proactively
• Willingness to obtain any required safety or security-related training
• Subject to background check, This is a church and school environment.
• Ability to lift, move, and perform routine physical tasks associated with facility upkeep

Key Responsibilities

Facilities & Maintenance

• Maintain church buildings, equipment, and mechanical systems, including performance of routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance
• Monitor, maintain, schedule, and adjust HVAC systems (including Trane/Tracer, Bard, and similar platforms). Includes filter replacement and maintenance of air handlers on the roof and in attics.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors, service providers, and inspections
• Maintain maintenance workspace, tools, and supplies in safe and orderly condition
• Support upkeep and scheduling of church vehicles

 

Campus Readiness & Grounds

• Prepare rooms and spaces for worship services, classes, meetings, and events
• Update and maintain FPC street signs ahead of upcoming events
• Assist with general upkeep of buildings and grounds, including light cleaning and debris removal
• Monitor, schedule, and maintain irrigation systems and outdoor areas, including the Memorial Garden
• Ensure campus is clean, safe, and welcoming for all users

 

 

 

Security & Safety

• Conduct routine walkthroughs of campus and perimeter
• Serve as a point of contact in emergency situations (police, fire, security)
• Monitor exterior lighting and address issues as needed
• Secure buildings after services, events, and regular use

Events & Weekend Support

• Open, set up, and secure facilities for Sunday services and special events
• Provide on-site support for weddings, funerals, and other large gatherings as needed
• Perform light post-event cleanup and reset spaces for subsequent use

Administrative & Coordination

• Attend bi-weekly staff meetings, monthly Property Committee meetings, and other called meetings as assigned.
• Coordinate with St. Petersburg Primary School, especially on shared facility needs
• Order and manage maintenance supplies within budget and operating guidelines
• Perform other related duties as assigned
