BI's Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) instruments are used in academia and biopharmaceutical research to measure the affinity and kinetics of biomolecules, with application areas including life sciences, drug discovery, antibody characterization, biosensors, and electrochemistry.

Role Description :

The Application Scientist role requires a unique blend of scientific expertise, commercial acumen, and operational independence, serving as a key technical liaison for high-value SPR instruments across three main pillars:

· Sales Enablement: conducting compelling product demonstrations, evaluating customer sample feasibility, and supporting sales conversions.

· Customer Field Support: delivering on-site installations, user training, and ongoing technical/application troubleshooting.

· Application Development: driving assay development (specifically cell-based binding kinetics), reviewing literature, writing project reports, application notes and white papers.

Qualifications :

· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

· Education: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Cell Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or a closely related life sciences discipline.

· Must have cell biology competency: extensive, hands-on experience in cell culture, cell growth dynamics, and cell-based assay integration.

· Working knowledge of protein-protein interactions, binding analysis, and assay development.

· Ability to adhere rigorously to standard operating procedures, instrument calibration, and disciplined data organization.

· Ability to maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant laboratory environment.

· Ability to review scientific literature and translate novel methodologies (such as new cell line models) into product applications.

· Skill in customer facing communication and training of complex analytical instruments for diverse audiences in big pharma, biotech, and academic institutions.

· Ability to travel frequently (up to 30-40% domestic/regional) for sales support, product demo and installations.
