Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (NY HELPS)

Responsibilities At the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor 1 will serve as Staff Development Coordinator, develop and implement staff development programs, create training materials, establish policies and procedures for educational programs to ensure compliance with regulatory mandates, coordinate training across departments, ensure staff certification is up-to-date, conduct mandatory in‑services for all staff levels, perform post‑training evaluations and recommend corrective actions, participate in committees related to infection control and safety, and investigate complaints and grievances regarding staff development. Qualifications For transferred candidates: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service eligible for transfer to RN Supervisor 1. For provisional appointment: license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service as RN 2 (all parenthetics) or RN 3 (all parenthetics); or any Grade 18 or higher position that requires a licensed RN. Open competitive: license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, three years of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience (or substitute a bachelor’s degree for one year or a master’s degree for two years of experience). Preferred: nursing experience with geriatric populations and experience as a Staff Development Coordinator and instructor. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $132,178 – $143,230, which includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 22, additional geographic pay differential of $35,000 and a downstate adjustment of $4,000. The position may include shift and geographic pay differentials, inconvenience pay for evening or night shift, and 10% shift differential for night shift and 7% for evening shift.
