Early Learning ConnectionsJob DescriptionPOSITION: Maintenance /Janitorial RESPONSIBLE TO: The Maintenance ManagerMAIN FUNCTION: Perform general maintenance, repairs and cleaning of agency property. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:Perform minor plumbing repairs.Perform general cleaning including but not limited to sweeping, emptying trash, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing floors. Cleaning of high touch surfaces.Perform repairs and refinishing of furniture.Be aware of Head Start Performance Standards and DPW Regulations as they relate to physical plant issues Perform duties to bring buildings and playgrounds into compliance with local codes, DPW Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.Assist with lawn care, snow removal and sidewalk treatment.Be responsible for the care and storage of agency tools.Perform simple carpentry tasks.Perform minor repairs to all areas of the buildings.Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.Complete tasks from work request forms and return forms to supervisor.Maintain appropriate paperwork such as monthly maintenance records for HVAC equipment.Support the program-wide adoption of the teaching pyramid model to promote the development of young children's social-emotional competence and address challenging behavior.Create and maintain a positive organizational culture by demonstrating the program-wide behavioral expectations in their social interactions with children, families, community members and colleagues. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.Ability to use hand tools and power tools.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required.Related experience preferred.On-the-job training offered.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods standing and walking.Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Driving to various sites.  QUALIFICATIONS:Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.Must obtain all required clearances.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
