MediaLinks TV, LLC serves CGTN America. CGTN America is an award-winning news organization that has been recognized for its high-quality, objective news coverage and programming. CGTN America in the Washington News Bureau for China Central Television (“CCTV”), which, through a division named the China Global Television Network (“CGTN”), offers multi-language news channel that is broadcast to over 100 English speaking countries, including the United States. About the role: CGTN is hiring an Assistant Director to join our team in Washington D.C. The successful candidate will work well in a diverse team environment mainly as a Technical Director and will serve as a backup Director when needed. Responsibilities: This person is responsible for checking all material in the server, playing out all video clips from the server and the server support devices. They have the added responsibility of timing not only the graphics in packages but the overall show. (They have an ENPS terminal.) The Director’s Assistant counts the program ON AIR and OFF AIR in conjunction with Beijing as well as counting the Anchors to stop talking on time. They liaise closely with the Line Producer to ensure the program is on time and use the ENPS terminal to keep track of that timing as well as a stop watch and the studio clocks. Candidate requirements: At least 2 years’ experience Ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends), ability to work under tight deadlines, ability to work under pressure, and during breaking news. BA/BS degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications or related digital field strongly preferred.
