Shift Information

This position involves 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. Please note that there is no guarantee of hours.

Licensure Requirements

Candidates must possess an active Hawaii nursing license by the start of the assignment. Travelers currently without this license must apply upon acceptance of the offer. It is important to note that medical and religious exemption requests will not be accepted in lieu of documented proof of immunity.

Job Duties

The role requires floating between various medical and surgical units. Responsibilities include a wide range of nursing duties, aiding in various medical procedures, and providing patient care within multiple departments.

Required Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required, with up to 10 years preferred.
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS. Additional preferred certifications include PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC.

Unit and Patient Care Information

Healthcare professionals will primarily serve in the following units:

• Medical Unit - 77 beds
• Laulima Surgical Acute Unit - 18 beds
• Cardiovascular Unit - 15 beds (floating to this unit is rare)

The nurse-to-patient ratios are as follows:

• Medical Unit: 1:6 for days and evenings; 1:8 for nights
• Laulima Unit: 1:6
• Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4

Equipment Used

Familiarity with the following equipment is preferred:

• Meditech EMR
• Pyxis
• Wound vac
• Chest tubes

Dress Code

Professional nursing attire is required, including clean scrubs.

Orientation and Training

Orientation time is provided for each unit to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

Additional Information

Candidates must arrive the Thursday prior to the start date for an employee health appointment scheduled for Friday. Please ensure that you can meet this timeline before accepting the position.
