Tech - MLT/Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Summary:

The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory testing, specimen preparation, and analysis to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. This role requires expertise in microbiology, molecular testing, and laboratory equipment troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, including culture setup, Gram staining, and rapid molecular testing.

• Prepare specimens for testing and ensure accurate processing of samples.

• Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure optimal operation.

• Conduct quality control procedures and document results for compliance.

• Communicate technical findings effectively to medical staff and provide training to laboratory personnel.

• Adhere to safety standards and participate in ongoing continuing education activities.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant scientific discipline.

• Certified as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or an equivalent certification.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in microbiology and clinical laboratory testing.

• Demonstrate proficiency in plating, culture reading, and molecular testing platforms like BioFire Torch and Cepheid assays.

• Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina RN license or active license application.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
