We are currently seeking a Local 1 Helper C to join our team!

Job is located in the Streeterville/Gold Coast region of downtown Chicago.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance C employee performs general cleaning, janitorial, and basic building maintenance duties to support the overall operation and appearance of the property. This role focuses primarily on maintaining the cleanliness and orderly condition of common areas and assisting with basic property upkeep consistent with the SEIU Local 1 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities:

o Maintain the cleanliness and order of building common areas including:

o   Hallways

o   Lobbies

o   Laundry rooms

o   Pool areas

o   Party rooms

o   Locker rooms

o   Sweep, dust, mop, and maintain floors and surfaces throughout the property.

o   Clean and prepare vacant apartments including:

o   Sweeping and dusting

o   Cleaning appliances and fixtures

o   Cleaning plumbing fixtures

o   Remove trash, refuse, and debris from the property and place in designated waste areas.o

o   Assist with snow removal to ensure safe building access and walkways.

o   Maintain building appearance and general upkeep of property grounds and interior areas.

o   Assist with cleaning duties related to resident turnover.

o   Perform seasonal duties such as installing or removing screens and storm windows.

o   Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.

o   Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to building management.

o   Assist other maintenance staff as needed during building operations.

o   Maintain tools and cleaning equipment in proper working conditions.

 

Required Skills and Education:

Employees in this position may be required to participate in and successfully complete training programs offered through the SEIU Local 1 Training Center or other employer-designated training programs. Such training may include apprenticeship coursework, safety training, equipment operation training, and other job-related instruction deemed necessary by the Employer to support safe and effective building operations.

The Employer may require employees to attend additional training courses offered through the SEIU Local 1 Training Center as a condition of continued employment, consistent with the provisions of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

 

Physical Requirements:

·        Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

·        Ability to lift cleaning equipment and supplies.

·        Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
