CAREGIVER JOB DESCRIPTION
The caregiver provides hands‑on personal care to clients who are unable to care for themselves. This includes providing assistance with clients’ activities of daily living, including personal care, maintaining mobility, nutrition/hydration, elimination/toileting, using assistive devices, administering medications, managing the clients’ environment and providing client safety, collecting data, observing, listening, recording and reporting. The caregiver also provides assistance with clients’ instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, laundry, cooking meals, grocery shopping, transportation to appointments, and shopping. The caregiver may also be required to provide medication reminding to clients. Overall Purpose To provide care and services to clients in their own homes. Most specifically, the purpose of the position is to assist clients with their activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living. Responsibilities and Requirements Apply standard precautions according to the Centers for Disease Control Prevention Guidelines; Use hand hygiene between episodes of care; Use appropriate body mechanics to prevent injury to self and client; Follow the client’s service plan; Use appropriate communication with client, client’s family and friends, and coworkers; Report changes in client’s condition to the agency’s administrator or designee such as any recognized abnormality in client’s signs and symptoms; Record observations and measurements, tasks completed, and client statements about condition or care; Apply safety concepts in the client’s home; Report signs of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, misappropriation or exploitation; Demonstrate respect for the rights and property of clients and their families; Pass a criminal records check; and Maintain client confidentiality. Working Conditions The caregiver will work in clients’ homes within the agency’s geographic service area. The caregiver will provide personal care including medication reminding and housekeeping services to our clients as per the clients’ individual service plans and under the supervision of the agency’s administrator. The caregiver may be required to work different shifts, including night, evening or early morning shifts. Physical Demands The caregiver is often required to assist in lifting, transferring and stabilizing clients as they stand, sit, climb (stairs) or walk. Caregivers are required to walk, stand, lift, pull, push, carry, balance, bend, crouch, reach, handle, speak, hear, write, read and communicate. Minimum Requirements Be 18 years of age or older; Be able to communicate both orally and in writing to sufficiently perform their tasks and duties and interact effectively with clients and agency staff; Be able to pass all screening tests, including but not limited to criminal records and LEIE checks; Have proof of the ability to work legally in the U.S.A.; and Be able to successfully complete caregiver and medication training or have proof of current certification by the Oregon State Board of Nursing as a nursing assistant or medication aide in good standing. #J-18808-Ljbffr Caring PDX- Benefits 401(k) Company parties Competitive salary Flexible schedule Training & development Flexible Scheduling Competitive Compensation Careers Advancement Job Summary We are seeking a Caregiver to join our team.
