This is a full-time one-on-one SPED IA position with benefits. All applicants must have current CPR and First Aid certification and a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Job Summary: The Instructional Assistant assists teachers in implementing the instructional program, including working directly with children in small groups or one-to-one. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Utilizes district technologies appropriately and attends required district training. Assists teacher with planning, preparation, and distribution of classroom materials. Conducts learning games with students per established procedures. Supervision and instruction of children through activities such as copying, cutting, coloring, constructing materials and bulletin boards. Maintains regular attendance and complies with State Law and District policies and regulations. Maintains a safe learning environment. Anticipates and addresses unforeseen crises. Provides individualized and small‑group instruction to reinforce skills taught by the teacher. Serves snacks and lunches as necessary. Attends workshops as directed. Lifts students in wheelchairs as required. Assists teachers with student needs such as feeding, lifting, toileting and dressing, and other learning activities. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises children in the classroom. Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent of 60 semester hours, or passing results from ParaPro or WorkKeys assessment. High school diploma or GED required. Prefer prior experience working with Special Education children. Current CPR and First Aid certification required. CPI training preferred. Language Skills: Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and the public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Interface effectively with other departments, school personnel, maintenance staff, and business contacts. Support academics and behavior management for students. Patience working with children. Learn new skills, flexibility, and willingness to perform a variety of tasks. Follow written and oral directions and complete assignments. Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and staff. Be self‑directed and work without direct supervision. Reasoning Ability: Solving practical problems and dealing with varied situations with limited standardization. Interpreting written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions. Other Skills and Abilities: Accurately perform assigned tasks. Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and School Board Policies. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to restrain students. Physical Demands: Frequent stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. May lift up to 50 pounds.
