Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Associate – AmLaw 100 Firm
Location: San Francisco
Full-Time
Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking an ECVC Associate with 4–8 years of experience to join its Emerging Companies & Venture Capital practice.
The ideal candidate will advise high-growth technology and life sciences companies, as well as venture capital and institutional investors, on sophisticated corporate transactions throughout the company lifecycle.
Associates will work directly with founders, CEOs, management teams, boards of directors, and investors on matters ranging from early-stage formation through pre-IPO transactions.
Responsibilities may include:
- Venture financings, including SAFEs and preferred stock financings
- Corporate governance matters
- General corporate counseling and strategic transactions
- Formation, growth, and exit planning
- Representing both emerging companies and investor-side clients
The practice advises innovative companies across industries including artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital health, life sciences, fintech, defense technology, and other emerging sectors.
Qualifications:
- 4–8 years of ECVC experience at a law firm
- Experience advising emerging companies and/or venture capital investors
- Strong understanding of venture financings and general corporate matters
- Ability to manage client relationships and lead sophisticated transactions
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Strong interest in growth companies and emerging technologies
Compensation & Benefits
The expected salary range is $310,000–$435,000 , depending on experience and associate year level. Discretionary merit-based bonuses may also be awarded.
