This role involves performing clinical testing across various disciplines including hematology, immunology, microbiology, clinical microscopy, chemistry, coagulation, and blood banking, all while adhering to strict regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately perform and verify routine and specialized laboratory tests with minimal supervision.
- Manage reagent preparation and analyzer troubleshooting efficiently.
- Conduct quality control procedures consistently, documenting any failures and corrective actions.
- Prioritize workload to meet testing requests promptly and maintain department productivity.
- Communicate critical results to healthcare providers promptly and document accordingly.
- Assist in training new staff and contribute to updating procedural manuals and policies.
- Perform ongoing assessments of specimens and troubleshoot issues for both in-house and reference testing.
Education: An associate degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific field is required. Experience: No prior experience is necessary for registered Medical Laboratory Technicians. Certification: Certification or board eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technician through recognized agencies such as ASCP, ISCLT, HHS, AMT, or NCA is required upon hire. Mental and Physical Requirements: This position demands close mental and visual attention for extended periods, often under time-sensitive and stressful conditions. Approximately 90% of the time involves moving throughout the department and working at lab stations. Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds is necessary. Working Conditions: The role involves regular exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious materials in an air-conditioned environment with moderate noise levels. Flexibility to work various shifts is expected.
