Keep Production Moving in North Kansas CityAt Express Employment Professionals, we’re hiring an experienced maintenance professional to support a heavy manufacturing operation in North Kansas City, MO. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert ensuring equipment runs safely and efficiently through hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.A Day in the LifeYou start your shift with a safety huddle and a quick scan of the CMMS to prioritize preventive work orders. A line goes down—your blend of electrical, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical know‑how gets the system back on its feet. You confirm guards and safety devices are in place, run test cycles, and document the fix. Between calls, you fabricate a small replacement bracket in the shop, replenish critical spares, and collaborate with operations on a changeover that shortens downtime. Throughout it all, you maintain a spotless, OSHA‑compliant workspace.What You’ll HandleEnd‑to‑end electrical and mechanical maintenance with strict LOTO adherence.Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, and mechanical systems.Execute breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment changeovers.Confirm guards/safety devices before release to production.Read/interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.Diagnose issues using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).Fabricate/modify parts with machine shop tools and equipment.Create, track, and close work orders in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Monitor and restock maintenance parts and supplies.Safely operate powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, and portable cranes.Escalate safety, quality, and operational concerns promptly.Keep the area clean and safe per OSHA standards.Contribute to continuous improvement and team problem‑solving; other duties as needed.What You Bring3+ years of maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing.Depth in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and PLC troubleshooting.High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Apprenticeship, journeyman, military, or equivalent technical training preferred.Proficiency with hand/power tools, micrometers, calipers, and reading technical drawings.Strong analytical troubleshooting and practical problem‑solving.Ability to communicate clearly in English and perform basic math.Team‑oriented with a strong safety mindset.Bonus: exposure to machines like Toshiba, Nissei, Battenfeld, Welltec, Engel and robots such as Wittman and Sepro.Physical DemandsLift and/or move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.Stand and walk for extended periods.Bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crawl, and reach as the job requires.ScheduleAll shifts available – hours may vary with production requirements.Tools & Tech You’ll UseProgrammable Logic Controllers (PLC) and conveyor systems120/208/240/480V electrical systemsPreferred ProficienciesPLC troubleshootingMechanical troubleshootingWorking safely with 120/208/240/480V systemsElectrical diagnosticsPLC programming exposureAbout Express Employment ProfessionalsExpress Employment Professionals is one of the leading staffing companies in the U.S. and Canada, with over 750 franchise locations.
