Experience: 1+ years of related work experience preferred

License: Valid and current driver's license preferred

Certifications: BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire

Must-Have: High school diploma or equivalent required Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required Intermediate proficiency with computers is required Comprehensive phlebotomy skills

Description: The Phlebotomist position draws blood from inpatient and outpatient settings so tests can be performed and doctors can make diagnoses. Send out all pathology and cytology, bone marrow biopsies, and fine needle aspirates. Review and input patients' demographics for pathology. Review and print pathology reports and input histology charges as they come in. Order tests and prepare them to standards. Check lab orders to make sure orders are correct, confirm physicians on the orders, and make changes if any are needed. Perform venipuncture blood draws, heel sticks, and finger pokes; verify patients' information, conduct drug screens, perform breathalyzers, and keep phlebotomist updated with changes and new protocols. Perform other duties as requested. Self-starter with compassion and excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills is necessary. This position is generally active in nature. Ability to have continuous oral and written communication with patients, co-workers, and supervisors is essential. Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, reaching, lifting, stooping, and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding, and read fine print will be expected. Exposed to moderate noise levels and potentially hazardous bodily fluids or airborne particles.
