The Assistant Coach will work under the guidance of the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach, providing individualized instruction, technical support, and mentorship to all wrestlers while fostering a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting athletic development, sportsmanship, and personal growth for all team members. Key Responsibilities Coaching & Skill Development: Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices focused on wrestling fundamentals, techniques, and strategies. Coaching & Skill Development: Provide individualized coaching for student-athletes to improve technique, strength, conditioning, and match readiness. Coaching & Skill Development: Assist in teaching proper warm-ups, injury prevention exercises, and flexibility routines. Coaching & Skill Development: Support athletes in goal-setting, performance improvement, and mental preparation for competition. Competition & Game Support: Help prepare wrestlers for dual meets, tournaments, and championship events. Competition & Game Support: Assist with match lineups, weigh-ins, in-match coaching, and post-match feedback. Competition & Game Support: Promote sportsmanship, respect, and effort during all competitions. Team Culture & Mentorship: Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture aligned with North Middlesex Athletics' values. Team Culture & Mentorship: Serve as a role model by demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and respect for all athletes and coaches. Team Culture & Mentorship: Encourage teamwork, leadership, and responsibility among student-athletes. Team Culture & Mentorship: Support student-athlete academic success and personal growth. Collaboration & Communication: Maintain open communication with the Head Coach, athletes, parents, Athletic Director, and school staff. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with the Head Coach and other assistant coaches to develop practice plans, training programs, and competition strategies. Collaboration & Communication: Participate in program meetings, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all practices, matches, and activities are conducted safely, adhering to district, MIAA, and NFHS guidelines. Safety & Compliance: Monitor athletes for injury risks, proper technique, and safe use of equipment. Safety & Compliance: Maintain required certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and Concussion in Sports Training. Safety & Compliance: Enforce school policies and athletic eligibility requirements. Qualifications Required: Experience coaching wrestling or significant competitive wrestling experience at the high school or collegiate level. Required: Strong knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, match strategies, and conditioning practices. Required: Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes while fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. Required: Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Required: Must meet all North Middlesex School District, MIAA, and NFHS coaching requirements. Preferred: Previous assistant coaching experience at the varsity or high school level. Preferred: Familiarity with tournament preparation, scouting, and performance analysis. Preferred: Experience with strength and conditioning specific to wrestlers.
