On-Duty Operations Manager (OD)

Overview Join our team! We seek responsible, safety‑maware, CPR/AED/First Aid Certified candidates with strong customer service orientation to support the JCC Greater Boston community. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant, welcoming workplace that emphasizes teamwork and making a difference in the lives of others. The OD Operations Manager provides operational oversight and acts as a reliable, collaborative presence to support members and staff on duty, especially outside prime business hours. This role aims to provide staff and members with effective guidance, problem resolution, direction, and timely interventions to deliver excellent, customer‑centric services in line with JCC Values and conduct standards. Responsibilities Provide collaborative, communicative, and decisive oversight of the building Maintain vigilant and active oversight presence and visibility Perform ongoing building rounds during shift (at least every 30 minutes) Respond to calls and requests in a timely manner Provide effective and timely resolution to complex situations, elevate issues to security or leadership as needed Support community safety and adhere to conduct and service standards Be the first point of contact for staff, promptly respond to medical emergencies Document and share communications during shifts; ensure detailed incident/accident reports for follow-up Address suspicious or unsafe behaviors; contact JCC security as needed Foster a welcoming environment; present professional conduct, greet members, and engage in friendly conversation Listen to member concerns; address issues courteously or provide interim remedies to diffuse situations Enforce all JCC procedures and Health & Fitness department policies Execute On‑Duty Manager procedures and report issues to the OD Coordinator with proper documentation Enforce staff expectations, inclusivity, and service quality Record hours in Paylocity and adhere to payroll schedules Participate in trainings and meetings and support organizational success Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of experience overseeing a function or people; relevant substitutions may apply Must hold a valid CPR/AED/First Aid certification Strong computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel Skills and Abilities: ability to handle challenging conversations with de-escalation training or willingness to be trained; excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and adapt; superb interpersonal and active listening; strong decision-making and judgment; ability to build relationships with members; willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends Physical Requirements: onsite work, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit/kneel, and stand/walk for long periods ADA: capability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations Benefits and Other Information This is a regular, non-exempt limited part-time position of 4–18 hours per week.
