Travel RN – Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), Night Shift

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 hours per week | 12-hour shifts | Alternating weekends | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed Cardiac ICU with patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
• Titrate vesicant medications and manage pressors, sedation, and paralytics in critically ill cardiac patients
• Operate and monitor advanced equipment including ventilators, IABP, CRRT, Impella, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, and hypothermia devices
• Assist with and support bedside procedures including cardioversion, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
• Interpret telemetry, hemodynamic monitoring, and PA catheter data to guide clinical decision-making
• Document all patient care activities accurately using the Cerner electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (or compact eligibility) in the state of North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
• Demonstrated proficiency in titration of vesicant medications and familiarity with pressors, sedation, and paralytics
• Experience managing ventilated and tracheostomy patients
• Competency in telemetry interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring, including PA catheter setup and interpretation
• Ability to float to other units per facility traveler float policy

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CCRN certification strongly recommended
• Experience with IABP, Impella, and/or CRRT highly desirable
• Familiarity with transvenous pacing, TEE, and chest tube maintenance
• Prior experience in a high-acuity cardiac or cardiovascular ICU setting
