Senior Accountant

SBPM Partners is hiring a Senior Accountant to be the hands‑on engine of the accounting function for a fast‑scaling, multi‑entity, multi‑currency operating group with active companies in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union. Reporting to the CFO, you will execute the monthly close, run day‑to‑day accounting across entities, and help build the processes, controls, and systems a growing company needs as it scales from a handful of markets toward many. This is a builder’s seat: you are comfortable with ambiguity, willing to stand up what doesn’t yet exist, and ready to grow your scope as the finance function matures. As the company scales, this role has a natural pathway to expanded responsibility and the potential to grow into a future Controller position for the right performer.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Monthly close execution — journal entries, accruals, prepaids, FX revaluation, and intercompany reconciliations across all entities, working toward a tight, repeatable close cadence. Day-to-day accounting in Xero — AP, AR, bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations, and general‑ledger upkeep across multiple entity instances. Process and controls build‑out , standing up, documenting, and improving accounting workflows that don’t yet exist — bringing structure to a fast‑moving, early‑stage environment. Statutory and tax support — prepare schedules and workpapers for VAT/GST/HST/PST filings, corporate tax, and statutory accounts, and coordinate with external advisors and auditors. Intercompany and consolidation support — maintain intercompany schedules, management‑fee mechanics, and eliminations that feed group consolidation. Balance‑sheet integrity — keep accounts clean through timely reconciliations, variance review, and resolution of open items ahead of each close. Reporting and cash support — prepare AP runs, assist with cash management, and help produce the monthly reporting package for leadership. Systems and automation — diagnosing manual workflow gaps, implementing tools that can support rapid entity growth, and acting as an early, hands‑on tester and requirements partner for new finance and AP/AR systems.

WHO YOU ARE

Startup or early‑stage experience — 5+ years in accounting with meaningful time at a startup, early‑stage, or high‑growth company, where you built and documented processes rather than inheriting them. Required. Strong US GAAP ; experience navigating or supporting multi‑jurisdiction GAAP environments and the flexibility to learn additional local standards as the company expands. Hands‑on Xero experience strongly preferred; comfortable working in the platform from day one. Multi‑entity, multi‑currency exposure — experience closing the books across more than one entity and currency strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or active candidacy preferred. A builder’s temperament — able to thrive in hyper‑growth environments, maintaining structure and control while scaling rapidly, with a self‑directed, adaptable mindset and comfort operating in ambiguity.

A close that gets faster and cleaner each month, reconciliations kept current with balance‑sheet items resolved, statutory and tax deadlines supported without surprises, accounting processes documented so they hold up as the company grows, and workflows that scale seamlessly as the company expands from a handful of entities to a global footprint. The finance function runs smoothly because the fundamentals are reliably handled.
